First Time Home Buyer Course
WATCH is currently offering First Time Home Buyer courses online via video conferencing.
The course consists of important information for all first-time home buyers! You will learn about:
- Credit, debit and budgeting issues
- Qualifying for a mortgage
- Shopping for a home
- The legal aspects of home buying
- The responsibilities of being a homeowner
WATCH’s class is certified by CHAPA's Massachusetts Homeownership Collaborative, so graduates may be eligible for Down Payment Assistance programs from their City or Town, for the One Mortgage, or other mortgages designed for first time homebuyers. You must attend all three classes to receive a CHAPA Certificate of Completion. No make-up classes will be available.
The class fee is $50 per person or $75 per couple. Currently FTHB classes are offered online. Couples purchasing a home together are both encouraged to attend, although (unless your mortgage lender tells you otherwise) only one person may be required to complete the course. One Mortgage and Mass Housing Programs require that both persons purchasing a home together receive pre-purchase certificates.
The next set of classes will be held June 9, 10, and 11 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Check out the June Flyer for dates and information.
If you need to take a class before WATCH's course starts, check out CHAPA's calendar of classes available in Massachusetts.
