Isabel came to the United States from the Dominican Republic, six years ago. She lives in Waltham with her three kids and is currently working in the food industry. Isabel earned a degree in education from a university in the Dominican Republic, so she was excited to continue her studies by taking English as Second Language classes at WATCH. She sees learning English as an opportunity to use her education degree for a job in Waltham. 

When Isabel first came to this country, she faced some hardships as she had to leave her family and job behind. She appreciates organizations like WATCH, for encouraging her to keep on studying. “It's not easy to work, take care of my kids, and study but I really want to improve myself. One way to do that is to learn English. I appreciate Professor Brian for giving me his support and I ask God every day to give me strength to be able to accomplish the goals that I have set for myself”.

Isabel llegó a los Estados Unidos desde la República Dominicana hace seis años. Vive en Waltham con sus tres hijos y actualmente trabaja en un restaurante. Su experiencia al principio cuando llego a los Estados Unidos fue un poco difícil ya que tuvo que renunciar su trabajo y dejar su familia. En estos momentos ella esta estudiando inglés para ver si en un futuro pueda ejercer su carrera de maestra aquí en Waltham.

En este tiempo que lleva viviendo aquí ella he pasado por muchas dificultades pero le da gracias a instituciones como WATCH por animarla a seguir estudiando. "La verdad no es fácil trabajar, cuidar mi hijos y estudiar pero de verdad quiero superarme, una forma de lograrlo es estudiando. Agradezco al profesor Brian por brindarme su apoyo y le pido a Dios cada día que me dé la fuerza y sabiduría para continuar con las metas que me he propuesto en esta vida."
