How to Apply
Step 1: Gather Information
Birthdates, Social Security Numbers, income, and expenses (if available).
At least one household member must have legal status.
Step 2: Apply (Choose One):

Step 3: Submit Documents
DTA may request proof of identity, residency, income, and noncitizen status.
Submitting documents early speeds up the process.
Step 4: Decision

Some may qualify for emergency SNAP within 7 days.

All applicants receive a decision within 30 days.
Step 5: Get Your EBT Card
Mailed in 3–5 days, or pick one up at a DTA office.

If you are impacted by the decision to withhold SNAP benefits, help is available. Project Bread runs a free confidential FoodSource Hotline at 1-800-645-8333 to help you find food. Residents facing immediate hunger can also contact their local food bank.
If you have questions about the SNAP benefits freeze or changes through the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”, check the Department of Transitional Assistance's list of Frequently Asked Questions.Your EBT card will still work if it has funds.
Your EBT Card Status: If you have any SNAP funds left over from October, you can still use your EBT card. If you have at least $0.01 on your EBT card, Healthy Incentive Program (HIP) benefits will still be available to use.
