Stephania migrated to the United States from Haiti 8 months ago and has been living in Waltham since July. Shortly after moving, she enrolled in English and later on a computer course at WATCH. Her experience with the English course at WATCH CDC has allowed her to make new friends whom she now considers family and has deepened her understanding of English.

In the computer literacy course, Stephania is a true leader, always trying to help her classmates grow. She always checks in with other Haitian students in the class to make sure they’ve received emails about the class and understand lessons. She explains concepts to them in Creole when they don’t understand and is always trying to work together and share ideas. Having this role in the classroom has helped her sharpen her leadership skills and strengthen her computer literacy skills. Carlos, our Job and Financial Clinic Director, says "Stephania is a great leader, student, and community member who always is willing to help others with a smile on her face".

Stephania is a mother, wife, and nurse which certainly shows where her kindness and caring stems from! “I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have shaped my journey here in the USA” said Stephania.
