Cesar llegó a Waltham desde Guatemala en 1988 con su hijo de dos años y su hija de un año en busca de una vida mejor para su familia. Cuando llegó por primera vez a los Estados Unidos, tuvo que superar varios obstáculos, como comunicarse en un nuevo idioma y encontrar trabajo. Perseveró y ahora se enorgullece de poder contribuir a su comunidad.
Cesar forma parte de la junta directiva de WATCH y, a menudo, es voluntario en varios eventos de WATCH, trabaja como cocinero voluntario en el Centro Comunitario durante el invierno y ha sido entrenador de fútbol en la Asociación de Fútbol Juvenil de Waltham durante los últimos 12 años.
Cesar reconoce la importancia de ayudar y fortalecer a la comunidad de Waltham y le encanta ser un instrumento para hacer que otros se sientan felices, seguros y vistos. “Me encanta hablar con la gente y compartir mis experiencias para que entiendan que todo es posible. Mi familia emigró aquí hace mucho tiempo con las mismas necesidades. Mi experiencia con WATCH es muy importante para mí porque aquí conozco personas que tienen el mismo objetivo y la misma compasión de ayudar a los demás”.
Cesar came to Waltham from Guatemala in 1988 with his two year old son and one year daughter in search of a better life for his family. When first arriving to the United States, he had to overcome several obstacles such as communicating in a new language and finding jobs. He persevered and now prides himself on being able to give back to his community.
Cesar serves on WATCH’s Board and often volunteers for various WATCH events, works as a volunteer cook at the Community Day Center during the wintertime and has coached soccer at the Waltham Youth Soccer Association for the past 12 years.
Cesar recognizes the importance of helping and strengthening the Waltham community and loves being an instrument in making others feel happy, safe, and seen. “I love to talk with people and share my experiences so they can understand that everything is possible. My family emigrated here a long time ago with the same needs. My experience with WATCH is very important to me because I meet people here that have the same goal and the same compassion to help others.”
