In celebration of Black History Month, we honor the achievements of African Americans and the many contributions of Black people to our country and community. WATCH CDC celebrates Black History Month by highlighting the struggles, talent, creativity, wisdom, and accomplishments of Black Americans.

Free Black History Events

ABCD Black History Month Celebration – Museum of African American History, Feb 20  5-7pm
46 Joy Street Boston, MA 02114

ABCD’s Black History Month Celebration brings people together for an evening of culture, creativity, and community at the Museum of African American History in Boston. The event features performances, local vendors, and activities that highlight Black history and contributions. It’s a space to share talent, support Black-owned businesses, and have meaningful conversations. This event is a great way for families to celebrate Black History Month and learn together. 


Homecoming: Celebrating the Black Voices Collection - Feb 20, 7-8:30 p.m. 

Cambridge Public Library – Central Square Branch, 45 Pearl Street

Homecoming: Celebrating Black Voices will be held at the Central Square Library. Omo Moses will discuss the process of writing a family memoir and his experience living in Cambridge. After the presentation, attendees are invited to share their own stories of living in Cambridge and how they honor their family’s legacy.

Celebrate Black History Month at a special brunch, bringing together current and retired officers for a time of fellowship and reflection.

Join us for a delicious journey through history! Learn how to bake authentic southern soul food cornbread while exploring the rich Black history behind this famous dish. Supplies are limited, so don’t miss out on this experience.

Afro Caribbean Black History Gala and Awards, Feb 22, 6-11pm

The Afro Caribbean Black History Gala & Awards celebrates the Massachusetts Caribbean American community in Boston. The evening begins with a cocktail reception, followed by a program featuring members of the Caribbean Diaspora and friends of the Caribbean. This paid event is the highlight of our annual calendar, offering awards to Caribbean Americans in Massachusetts who have made significant contributions to the Caribbean diaspora, including youth initiatives. Giveaways, prizes, and surprises will be revealed throughout the night. 


Black Brilliance Gala - Feb 28, 8-11pm

The Black Brilliance Gala at Hibernian Hall is a night dedicated to celebrating and honoring the incredible achievements of Black individuals in our community. This inspiring event will feature powerful speeches and offer opportunities to connect and network with supporters of Black excellence. It’s a chance to come together, uplift one another, and celebrate the remarkable contributions of Black individuals in the Boston community.
