Your Right to Housing + Access to Healthcare

During the Current Crisis- you have the right to keep your housing and the right to get medical care for COVID treatment.

The Right to Keep Your Housing

On Monday, April 20, Governor Baker signed into law an eviction moratorium for the duration and aftermath of the coronavirus crisis.

Now, by law, no court evictions or eviction notices are allowed until after the crisis.*

If you still receive a notice to quit:

  1. Do not move out of your house

*Moratorium lasts 120 days from 4/20/20, or 45 days after the official state of emergency has ended.

Access to Healthcare

Amidst the current crisis, the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office is making sure everyone – particularly vulnerable communities – know their rights and are able to access the care and support they may need.  If you have COVID-19 related symptoms or any other medical need, do not be afraid to seek the medical care you need. Health care is available to all, regardless of immigration status.

For critical needs like housing, housing, and healthcare, the AG’s office is working to ensure that no one is taken advantage of or denied necessary services for any reason.
